I am currently downloadin' a butt-load of cds to my ipod, so i figured, hey, why not type in a bit? the big D gave me the company credit card to go buy cds today for the store. Woo-Hoo! I am pretty sure he is gonna like my choices. they fit in pretty well with the Hazel vibe, me thinks...Ursala 1000, Lazy, Buzzin' Fly, Imogen...and some random more mix cds. gonna be taking off on friday for vacation for a week! woo-hoo! i just want a pair of mouse ears with my name on them. aren't crushes the best? C, even drugged up on meds, is still ungodly cute. how sad is it that my heart is all a flutter just from his head on my shoulder? i am such the romantic shmuck. well, hopefully he will feel better soon and won't have to be in such a stupor, and we can boogie down or take some more walks or what not. damn, i missed Betts! we went out for hot pepper noodle and cheap martinis at Aqualina. I am quite certain that at some point, she, Mel, and me all need to be living in the same city. the fun would never stop! ok, that's all. i need to get the fauxhawk shaved back down to a mohawk before vacation. urgh. kisses.<br /><br />tim

hey, look! i am actually doing an entry!! well, to be honest, i am at work and we have yet to have had a customer. i needed to look up dexy's new addy, so i thought, hey, since i am on the net, why not jot some quick notes? things are going sweller than swell, i must say! i LOVE my job, although i am kind of freaked out at the moment. D & A are off on vacation in lovely australia, which means that the whole store is left for me to mind. of course, yesterday, my first day alone, was pretty freakish and frustrating. although i guess the worst of the worst was convincing a bride that her font was fine and trying to decide if i should price some jewelry or not, so i guess things weren't really all that bad. plus, deana called to offer words of support and i got a surprise visit from the fantastic ms. christina. so my birthday came and went, and was full of wonderful and amazing people and surprises. geez louise i have some great friends out there. i miss mel SO much, its not even funny. hrmph. so my goals for the year: 1) get published. I've found my discs with my "finished" stories, so I'll be sending them out again next week. here's hopin'! also, i've been working on a column proposal, but i don't really have a friggin' clue on how to get a newspaper column, so we shall see. goal #2) have my professional portfolio done by the end of the "semester." i hadn't really thought much about not being in school this semester until i chatted with Natalia and she told me how all me old mates had been saying how talented i was and that i could easily be doing professional work now. hrmph. it made me miss designing (not that its been that long), and so i think i'm going to get my portfolio in order and try to do some volunteer internship at an id firm in chicago...i mean, who is gonna turn down free labor, right? goal #3) brush up on my french! its been a goal of mine for a while anyways, i truly miss speaking and reading it; my skills have gotten soooo lax. there's an added incentive, too, 'cause D might need an interpreter soon for a french line that we have been carrying...its a long story, but it could result in some business trips to NY or maybe europe...we will see! anyway, in the meantime, work has been good and busy. we are in the midst of working with our web designers to develop an online store. hopefully it will launch by april-may, so i'll let y'all know when it is up and running. ok, time to go make the doughnuts!

drop kick the punks

ok, so the weekend started off really really great...friday night i met jennie, korina, p, and michelle out at this local bar called katarina's that has live jazz...it was really laid back and fun and they had these ginormous martinis, so i was quite the happy camper. definitely will be hanging out there more often. saturday, we had another big event at hazel, which went really really well, so after, d took us all out for dinner at bad dog tavern up in lincoln square, which was ok...but me and d's cosmos are infinitely better. so after i went to SUGAH BRO's for a big shindig, where basically i was the token gay...but it was fun nonetheless. i decided to go hit berlin since i haven't been there in a couple weeks, and the music was just amaaazing...okay, maybe i have just been in dance withdrawal, but it was purty good. so i get done there and decide to walk up to mcd's on addison for some fries and to hop a cab as usual from there. well, i get about a block and these two punk rock kids are standing there and they ask me for change, which i said i didn't have and kept walking...they started to follow me and were all "i know you got money," and then they grabbed me, punched me, and threw me up against a window. of course, this is the ONE time on clark street where there were no other pedestrians around...tons of cars, but of course, no one is gonna stop. so i deck one and shove the other and start to take off. one grabs my hat, and for some odd reason (i guess i am more attached to the hat than i thought), i turn around, and as he slips and falls to the ground, i jump on him and start wailing him in the face. meanwhile, the other kid is punching me in the head, but i guess it was either the adrenaline or maybe he was drunk and didn't have a lot of power, cause it didn't hurt at all. so he grabs my glasses and throws them (they got ran over by a car...r.i.p. cute artsy fartsy glasses), which kind of shocks me back and i am like, shit, i need to just get outta here. well, luckily a cab had pulled up and i jump in and lock the door as they are yelling and trying to get in. i had the cab speed to the police station, where the cops took off to go look for them. i didn't get a call from the po po, so i can only assume the punks got away. amazingly, i only had a few cuts on my lip and its just a bit swollen, hardly any bruising at all. it was weird...i always expected a punch to the face to hurt a lot more and i expected to be gushing blood. hrmph. anyway, my lip is still kind of swollen, but its going down. grrr. first SUGAH BRO gets cold cocked by a punk and paprocki's party gets trashed by a group of them, and then i get pounded by a couple. what's really sad is that they were the kids who got picked on by the jocks all through high school, and then they find this antiquated culture of anger and hate which funnels all of their frustration onto anybody and everybody...and back in high school, that was one of the groups i always hung out with. but because they are so juvenile and moronic, they just see me, a total stranger, walking down the street, and they just wanted to get in a fight with someone. gah. pathetic! ah well...i didn't get seriously hurt, i still have all my teeth, and i have another pair of glasses, so it wasn't a big tragedy. marissa brought me brownies today to cheer me up, too, so i am a bit more peaceful now, although still annoyed.

so friday i actually spent a LITTLE bit of time doing homework, so saturday, i was ready to relax and actually enjoy myself. after work, i met up with julie for dinner and drinks, which was just FANtastic, since i didn't really get that much time to hang out with her at the wedding. after that, i ran over to jennie's and we stayed up late watching some crappy countdown show on vh1 while she made pie crust for her party on sunday. sunday after work, d declared that we needed an official hazel outing, so we went to dinner at the always wonderful caro miro and then had some booze at the friendly neighborhood gay bar. ahhhh, i love company outings!! so now i am back at work/school at uic, blah....i am just not in the mood for this. anyway, i did get a new belt this weekend made from a brazilian sugar cookie! it is tres cool, i must say...we carry this line at work, and we just got them in....go to the website and get yerself some fun stuff!! <a href="http://www.glitterlimes.com">http://www.glitterlimes.com</a>

this weekend, while incredibly tiring, was absolutely amazing. <br /><br />saturday: mel and i woke up, had some lovely soup made by mr. b, took a little nap, and then started getting ready for the wedding. my tux didn't fit the best (i hate rented tuxes, blah), but i still looked pretty dang good. we got to the hall, and i sneaked back to take a quick look at renee...as soon as i saw her, i had to turn around and go 'cause i started to bawl. she looked absolutely stunning! the ceremony went without a hitch, and yeah, many tears were shed by the whole crew. mel took some great pictures of the entire weekend, which i will post as soon as she sends me the picture cd. after the wedding, we all went to the riverboat again to whoop it up, but alas, renee got thrown off the boat because they said that she was too intoxicated...which was really rather odd, because she was not drunk at ALL, and the security guard refused to say exactly what led him to think that she was intoxicated. all i can say is that noone makes a scene quite like a boesch girl! it was awesome!! anyway, we went to the straightest bar ever, which prompted me to run away to the gay bar, where i saw michael and chatted some more. You know, here is the nice thing about downstate which i really had forgotten about in chicago....guys don't just drop their pants at the first "hello." as a broad generalization, i think that they are more interested in finding a "real" relationship as opposed to just the new guy around the corner. it was rather interesting. anyway, went back to the bietz resort with mel and crashed.<br /><br />sunday: slept till noon, then met mel's uncle r and his hired man, h, who gave us a tour of their souped up bus. it was pretty cool! i guess maybe i am just a nerd, but i found it totally fascinating to see all of their disc sharpening tools...at about 2:30, mr. b started pouring the drinks, so that by the time dinner was done, i had had two manhattans, four glasses of wine, and two shots of whiskey, one of which was amazingly good, and i am not a big whiskey drinker. anywho, i was quite blotto by the time r and m showed up to ferry me home sweet home.<br /><br />what was the weirdest was how seeing mel and melissa was so natural...it seemed like it had been just last week that i had seen them, not 5 years...i've really really missed them!! it makes me want to move to California even more!!

Ahhhh, Peoria

ok, so apparently i have a couple tentative dates planned for next week with two guys who hate each other. ohhhhh, this should be fun. i am down in peoria at the moment, having a hella interestin' time. thursday i met up with r for dinner while his boyfriend m, went to a concert. when the concert was over, we packed into the jeep and began our trip downstate. i got to melanie's place around 2ish, and we ended up staying up till about 4 chatting and goofin' off. i have missed her SO friggin' much!! the next day we got up, and while mel and her mom went for a piano lesson, i wandered around the oh so exciting metro centre (*SO many ways to make you welcome* as the jingle went!). there was a new little french bakery, which really had the oddest paradoxes when it came to its food. i mean, their fresh baked pastries were really quite good, and the whipped cream that they used to top off their mochas was home made whipped cream...but for their tea selections, they had Lipton...now, lipton is ok, but i guess i was just expecting to see a higher quality of tea in a place like that...hmph. i had some time to kill and decided to walk over to the lakeview museum (p-town's only museum), which had a show going on showcasing "various items from the American Smithsonian," which amounted to it basically being, "stuff the smithsonian had around and decided just to throw it in a show and send it around to crappy places that don't have real museums." but lakeview does have a really nice little used bookstore there, so i ended up getting these hilarious old books of horror stories for children, one of which was "presented by BORIS KARLOFF." the other has some spooky plays, so i CLEARLY will have to perform some one man shows at drunken gatherings in the near future. mel and her mom picked me up and then we met mr. b downtown for lunch before going back to the house and prepping for the rehearsal dinner. the rehearsal went pretty well and then we jetted off to alexander's steakhouse, where i had the option of cooking my own meat. um, no. so they cooked it for me, and mel grilled up some mighty fine texas toast for me to gnaw on until it arrived. After that, a big group of us hit the riverboat casino, where i stumbled upon someone's abandoned bucket of tokens, which i promptly lost in the slot machines. i saw my high school geometry teacher, and after 5 years, finally came into contact with the voluptuous miss melissa brown, who, of course, stoked my ego by telling me how hot i had become. ahhhh, maybe p-town isn't so bad after all :) well, mel, me and brian's cousin, t, went out drinking after the boat, and since mel and i both had an urge to boogie, we hit the one gay bar in town, VISIONS, which actually isn't all that bad of a bar. chatted with one fellow, danced like a maniac for a bit (on the dancefloor which lit up from underneath, which was quite nifty), and then mel and i cackled while t drunkenly made a speech to the remains of the bar, basically yelling out that he was straight, in the air force, and that he loved all of us gays and that it was his job to protect all of us as americans. needless to say, i was the sober one who drove his pickup truck back to his hotel room, where we all crashed (not before mel ate all of my hash browns from hardee's, i must add). in the end, all i could muster when we got in our car to head for home was "well....that was SOMEthing." now, i am gonna take a wee bit of a nap before i need to shower and put on my oh so wonderful tux. oh, and i have already cried twice yesterday. i know i am gonna lose it today at the wedding. balls.

man numbah one: <a href="http://www.zach-braff.com">http://www.zach-braff.com</a> jennie and i went to go see garden state last night...oy! i think zach braff just moved up into my top 5 celebrity crushes. it was a reeeaally cute movie...it kind of got blah and predictable near the end, but the dialogue was pretty funny through most of the movie. natalie portman was adorable, as always, and i even got a little teary at one point when braff was talking about home and how it fades away...le sigh...<br /><br />man numbah two: <a href="http://snickers99.tripod.com/mrgood_1002.html">http://snickers99.tripod.com/mrgood_1002.html</a> oh, mr. goodbar. how i so delight in your deliciosity. while i watched garden state, i snacked on a bag of mr. goodbar bites, which i simply could not stop eating. although i have to say, i was slightly disturbed that the bites has an added "SALTY" to the "peanuts in milk chocolate," and the "SALTY" was in this crazy font...not quite sure why it disturbed me, but it did. oooohhhh, mr. goodbar and his salty bits...<br /><br />man numbah three: ok, so back in the summer, i met this guy j who, if someone were say, "hey, tim, what is your 'type'?" well, as far as physically, he was it. he seemed really nice and interesting, but there was a HUGE financial gap (i.e., i have NONE, and he had it out the wazoo), which tends to disturb me. but other than that, he seemed like a fairly nice guy, but there was this big issue of him leaving the bar one afternoon and someone said that it was with some other guy...i dunno, to be honest, i wasn't quite sure what happened, but i just kind of shrugged my shoulders over the whole situation and was like, oh well, THAT was fun for a weekend...well, he was out last night, and he started talking to me, and basically was just like, "i dunno what happened, but i think there was some misunderstanding somewhere because i really really liked you, and i really want to take you to dinner sometime, blah blah blah." again, i am just sort of shrugging my shoulders over the whole thing, and i was like, "well, you have my number still? ok, fine, you use it when you feel like it." so, i guess we will see if he ever calls. who knows?

i am in complete and utter love. if you haven't ever read bill bryson, i highly suggest you do so. every time i have read one of his travel books, i suddenly feel this mad obsession to follow in his footsteps. right now i am reading "the lost continent," which is his exploration of small town america. his relations concerning family car trips is just dead on....really takes me back to when my family would cram into the station wagon and go jetting about for hours on end on the highways of america. anyway, he's also friggin' hilarious. these are my two favorite quotes so far:<br /><br />"She had 'Ready For Sex' written all over her face, but 'Better Bring a Paper Bag' written all over her body."<br /><br />and then upon encountering a large group of baptist senior citizens who butted ahead of him in line and were generally obnoxious...<br /><br />"Why is it, I wondered, that old people are always so self-centered and excitable? But I just smiled benignly and stood back, comforted by the thought that soon they would be dead."<br /><br />bwahahahahaha, good stuff!<br /><br />on a further note about traveling, i am getting nervous/excited about this weekend's trip back to east peoria. i still can't believe that my lil' nee nee is gettin' married!! hopefully i will have some lovely pics to post, notably me in my tux looking all james bondish, but, as always when i make a trip down there, i always wonder what would happen if i ran into a member of my family....hmm...anyway, i'll save a piece of wedding cake for ya!

ok, so i know that i should probably be down in the dumps....but i woke up in the most amazing mood this morning. i look gayer than disco today, i put on my happy bunny tshirt that says "hey, you made me throw up a little," and i headed out the door listening to michael jackson...and not crazy wacko michael jackson, but classic mammasaymammasawmammamakusaw michael jackson. i almost had an ipod dance party while waiting for the el, but decided it would be best to merely tap my foot. i finished king's "the gunslinger" on the el, which gives me a sense of accomplishment, as mere as it may seem. anyway, i think i will hit a coffee shop later and draw and work on a story...i am feeling super creative today. yay for fall!!<br /><br />tim

DISCO DISCO DISCO!! so last night d and i met for a drink at cocktail, and m soon joined us....after a very brief stop at sidetracks where we saw the worlds largest jew-fro, we moved on to berlin for disco night!! i know that it makes me an ultra gay, but dammit disco night just rocks my world, and i haven't been in FOREVER it seems. everyone there is always in a good mood, all smiling and having very little attitude. its pretty damn refreshing from the typical gay bar scene...even berlin on other nights can have some pretty crappy attitude thrown about. ahhhh....of course, i overslept this morning and missed graphic design! whoops! tonight, jennie is taking me to some kind of free drink thing for rock the vote at kenneth cole? should be interestin, i hope...
